San Diego Comic Con was this weekend, so we have A LOT of awesome stuff to show you today, like the Justice League, Wonder Woman and Doctor Strange trailers! But that's not all! A lot of news on the TV side of things as well, plus a very special Marvel casting! Check it all out below!
The First Wonder Woman Trailer Is Here
At WB's DC Films panel, Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins shared the first Wonder Woman trailer with the crowd and WB released it online right after. Check it out above! The action and color palette looks breathtaking! Even Chris Pine, who I was mighty unsure about before, seems like a great fit for the film!
Wonder Woman jumps into theatres on June 2nd 2017 and I can't wait!
Justice League Comic Con Footage
After the Wonder Woman panel, Zack Snyder brought out the entire Justice League, presented the first image of the team in costume and then shared the comic con sizzle reel you can watch above!
The tone seems to be much lighter than in BvS, but we still have those awesome Zack Snyder visuals. Flash and Aquaman steal the whole thing for me, to be honest. Can't wait to see those two in Justice League and their solo movies later on! I also really like the Flash costume overall. Wonder Woman doesn't seem to have changed much in her appearance, but Batman has a somewhat altered cowl (looks like a cross between the Nolan and BvS cowls) and a darker suit with new armor plates. Aquaman has a new suit in the promo picture as well, but while it does look cool, I am not sure if I actually like his look from BvS better.
Doctor Strange Trailer
The Marvel panel was a big success as well, but sadly the studio did not release every bit of footage they revealed online (like DC thankfully did). Sizzle reels for Spider-man Homecoming and Thor Ragnarok were only shown on the inside of hall H, but the newest Doctor Strange trailer was also released online right after the first screening at SDCC. You can check out the cool trailer above, which shows even more of the weird and awesome reality warping powers Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will show off when the new Marvel film enters theatres later this year on November 4th!
Suicide Squad Final Trailer
Another highlight from SDCC was the newest and final trailer for Suicide Squad! This beast of a trailer clocks in at over 3 minutes, so it is the meatiest and possibly most spoilery trailer yet! Check it out above, or do it like me and try to avoid it until you can finally watch the worlds worst heroes on the silver screen in a week and a half!
Captain Marvel Actress Revealed
After rumors about the casting of Captain Marvel have been floating around for months, Kevin Feige finally confirmed it: Oscar winner Brie Larson will be Carol Danvers!
While her solo movie is still a few years away, this might possibly mean that we get our first look at her in the role in the upcoming Avengers movie (formerly known as Infinity War Part 1) by the Russo brothers! I think she is a great actress and a great choice, so I can't wait how she will do with the role!
Lego Batman Trailer
Batman wasn't only in the Justice League and Suicide Squad trailers during comic con, no he had a third trailer for his own... well, his Lego version at least! Feast your eyes on the new and hilarious trailer above, which delves into how Robin ends up with Batman in the first place! Great, funny stuff, if you ask me. Lego Batman was the highlight of the Lego Movie, so I am already on board with this one. Brings a nice counterbalance to the more serious Ben Affleck Batman.
The Flash Season 3 Trailer
Flash will return to the CW later this fall with it's third season! You can check out the new trailer for it above, which was also revealed during comic con. It delves into the Flashpoint of it all, but probably only goes into the first one or two episodes, so it's not a massive spoiler. Looks pretty good though, even if I am unsure how to feel about another speedster big bad.
Grant Gustin, TV's Flash, was also asked about his reaction to the first official image of Ezra Miller in costume as the movie version of the Flash.
"Oh sick, I haven’t seen it [is handed phone displaying Justice League image]… They’re completely different. Yeah, I mean I was kind of expecting this, I heard it was going to be kind of like Injustice. I hadn’t seen this yet, what else is out. Sorry I’m scrolling through the whole thing, I haven’t seen this picture. Yeah, that’s sick. Um… yeah, it’s sick. I’m glad it’s really different though [laughs]. Because ours is like a street, vintage feel that I don’t think has been done in any other version of the character."
He later also tweeted:
You're about to have 2 different takes on Barry Allen, played by 2 different actors that I think are equally thrilled to have the chance.
That trailer looks sick.
Arrow Season 5 Trailer
Just as Flash unveiled the trailer for its next season during SDCC, Arrow followed it up with it's own trailer for season 5, which is supposed to be a lot more grounded and slow moving to set up an awesome second half of the season. The newest big bad is called Prometheus (another dark archer), but is not based on the Grant Morrison Howard Porter character from their late 90s early 00s JLA run, but a completely new character.
Marc Guggenheim: "He's a new character that fits in with the theme of legacy for this season. He's pretty badass and mean."
Stephen Amell also talked a bit about the new approach for season 5, to keep the series fresh.
"Thus far, [I'm] very [happy with the tone of season 5]. There haven't really been any cliffhangers; this season feels very grounded and very patient to me. It's a patience that's earned over the course of a couple of years. If you produce a quality episode, someone doesn't need to appear from the grave at the end."
"Oliver's doing a shit job as Mayor. He's not doing a good job. He ran for the Mayoral office and got elected (unopposed) based on a lot of heartfelt sentiment, but because he is alone, and doesn't have his team, he doesn't have time to be the Mayor. So Thea's basically doing all that stuff for him."
