Some amazing new stuff dropped recently, like... um... the JUSTICE LEAGUE TRAILER!!! But wait, there is more, even for the Snyder haters ;-P
Evans Not Done With Captain America Yet
Recently Chris Evans has hinted at the next Avengers movie being possibly his last appearance as the star spangled hero in the MCU. While this made MCU fans cry out in terror, I kinda get why he would think about it, because he has been doing this for a loooong time now and not everybody can do this 17 years like Hugh Jackman.
In a new interview with Collider he took a pretty different stance though, which will have MCU fans breathe a sigh of relief:
“It’s really not up to me. My contract is up. I’m not going to sit here and say, “No more.” I think Hugh Jackman has made 47 Wolverine movies, and they somehow keep getting better. It’s a character I love, and it’s a factory that really knows what they’re doing. The system is sound, over there. They make great movies. If they weren’t kicking out quality, I’d have a different opinion. But, everything Marvel does seems to be cinema gold. And like I said, I love the character. The only reason it would end is ‘cause my contract is up. After Avengers 4, my contract is done. Talk to Marvel. If we engage further, I’d be open to it. I love the character. It’s almost like high school. You certainly always look to senior year, and then, all of a sudden, senior year happens and you’re like, “I don’t know if I’m ready to go.” It’s tough thinking about not playing the guy.”
So yeah. I really don't see Marvel losing interest in, what is currently arguably, the main leading man of their whole universe (imo he took over Downey's Iron Man at least in fan appreciation), so I feel we might still see him challenge Jackman's 17 year run for a single comic book character. We'll see. I surely don't think there is anybody else I would rather see being Cap than his Steve Rogers right now.
Justice League Trailer Arrived
The DC films faithful have been waiting for this trailer for months (and no the rough special footage from Comic Con doesn't count, since they only shot for 4 weeks then) and what a beauty it is! Holy hell.
We finally get in depth shots of the action (which still looks very Snyder-esque and dark, just how I love it), plus a lot of character material (I really REALLY dig Aquaman here and his humor!) and what is probably the coolest Flash super speed CGI I have ever seen! Plus Mera, Lois and Parademons! Yeah, as a big DC films fan I couldn't be happier. They also did not spoil anything with this, as we don't see the bad guy or even the rumored return of a certain dead superhero.
Great trailer, that shows the tonal shift after BvS will be a little more fun, without losing the epic-ness and gravitas I loved about MoS and BvS. So yeah. I am so in. No surprise there. Watch it again above!
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Zack Snyder Talks Justice League
Following the release of the first real Justice League trailer, director Zack Snyder talked a little bit about the film with USA Today and had some interesting things to say abut Batman, the team dynamic and... Superman.
About the characters meeting for the first time on screen:
"The thing that’s awesome about these icons is that a lot of them we haven’t seen in the movies before on the big screen. It’s kinda fun to really let (the actors) stretch their legs and inhabit those characters. It is a process to make a team out of this group of individuals, but for the greater good maybe they can put their differences aside."
"They’re each such awesome personalities in the movie. You have Jason stomping around as this inked hairy man, just this mythic figure. And you’ve got Ezra, who’s full of life and hilarious and all over the place and amazing — a really fun and also poignant Flash. And Ray’s story is in a lot of the ways the heart of the movie."
"He’s been a loner for certainly his crime-fighting career, maybe with the exception of Robin. When we meet him in BvS, he’s definitely at this low point of isolation. That was always our intention, that Justice League would be this continuation for Batman to evolve into a more complete hero."
On Superman's absence/return:
"It’s hard to have a Justice League without Superman. That’s how I feel about it. It was always a super-intriguing concept to me to have this opportunity to have him make that sacrifice but also have him be this, in a weird sort of way, the why of Justice League: What do you do now with him? What does the team think? What does the world need? All that comes into play. It’s fun for us but it’ll be interesting for audiences what we do with him."
Yeah, I am loving everything he says and can't wait for this film. Easily my most anticipated movie 2017. Plus: I feel he almost confirms Superman's return in JL, which of course is a must for me. Can't wait to hear that MoS theme again, when Kal returns!
New Spider-Man Homecoming Posters/Interview
Spider-Man Homecoming is coming closer and closer, so Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures released two new posters for us to check out, that show Spidey doing his thing in NYC! Check them out above!
Meanwhile USA Today talked to Michael Keaton, who enters the MCU as the Vulture Adrian Toomes. The actor revealed quite a bit about his character and his motivations:
"Some people see themselves as victims — he sees himself a little bit like that. He probably would have a strong argument that he never got a fair shot — a lot of ‘Why not me? Where’s mine?’"
Director John Watts also talked about the approach to the tech of the Vulture and how where he gets it from:
"Neat junk from all the other movies. It’s a really great starting point for the villains to have the Vulture picking over the stuff and finding the valuable exotic elements and having the Tinkerer assemble into something that could be used."
Sounds exciting! Can't wait for this one either!
