Deadpool Movie Costume Revealed
Fox’s upcoming Deadpool semi-reboot is going to draw a lot of Marvel fans into cinemas in February next year and kicks off one of the biggest, if not THE biggest year for superhero movies yet (Deadpool, Batman v Superman, Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, Dr Strange and more!)! Ryan Reynolds returns to the character he played in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was a very unfaithful rendition of the merc with the mouth (let’s be honest, they butchered him). So, naturally a lot of fans are still somewhat sceptical of the movie and its lead actor, but those fears should shrink down by a large margin now: Reynolds tweeted the first picture of himself last week in the full Deadpool suit and Burt Reynolds sexy pose on a bear rug… and it looks fantastic!
Fantastic Four Poster Reaveals The Thing
Josh Trank’s reboot of Marvel’s first family is coming this summer on August 7th! A photo of a big international poster now revealed the look of the Thing Ben Grim in the movie! It looks quite close to the comic version, but at the same time continues the darker, more realistic vibe the rest of the movie seems to have this far!
Suicide Squad Teases Arkham Asylum
As usual Suicide Squad director David Ayer tweeted some tiny tidbits from the ongoing production of the DC Comics supervillain team-up movie! Last week he tweeted that in set design even the smallest details matter and this picture with it. On first glance it is the most boring picture imaginable, showing some binders on a shelf… but when looking closer fans can see the Arkham Asylum logo on them, which is also the same logo the famous institution had in the Arkham videogame franchise! So, it seems we won’t only get out first look at the DCCU’s Joker in Suicide Squad, but also on Arkham Asylum!
In related news, Jared Leto seems to maybe test out his Joker voice on tour with his band 30 Seconds to Mars. Click here to get a creepy preview on what his voice might sound like when he dons the skin of the clownprince of crime!
Transformers Gets A Cinematic Universe
The Verge reported last week on some rumblings out of the Transformers corner of Hollywood, which we almost had to have suspected to happen at some point: Transformers are getting their own cinematic universe (just like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Universal monsters, Ghostbusters and maybe TMNT next week, who knows?)! Universal already has started their shared monster universe last year with Dracula Untold, so it makes sense that they want to do this with their biggest franchise. Nothing is finished but the studio already hired a lot of talented writers which are contracted to come up with ideas for spin-offs and the like. If the audience will pay to see 6 different shared universes, with each 2-3 movies a year (!!!) in the coming years is questionable and I really think Hollywood is trying their hardest to burst that bubble as fast as they can. In the end, the higher quality movies will win this franchise war, so maybe Transformers will be among those. We will find out soon!
New Zombie Schwarzenegger Movie
Arnold Schwarzenegger has debuted the trailer for his newest movie across social media last week: Maggie. It is kinda like “The Last of Us” and plays out in a sort of viral zombie apocalypse. Arnold plays a father who’s daughter seems to have gotten infected and now he has to fight to find a cure. It looks really good and moody, so give the trailer a spin!
Batman V. Superman Lex Luthor Is Here
Entertainment Weekly brought us the first look at Batman V Superman’s Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eiseberg. It shows the character with the iconic bald head, creepy stare and wearing what could be a prison uniform! Overall a pretty cool image that director Zack Snyder shared to celebrate the one year out mark of the movie last week (less than a year now! YEAY!).
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure,” says Zack Snyder, “other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”
Batman Arkham Knight Delayed Again/ New Gameplay Footage
One of the biggest videogame releases of the year, Batman Arkham Knight, has been delayed again. This time the delay is not as harsh as the first time, but only a few weeks from June 2nd to June 23rd. To give you something to think about until then Rocksteady and WB Interactive have released a new video wich shows 7 minutes of the game running on the PS4. Check it out:
Walking Dead Spin Off TV Show Has a Name
Robert Kirkman, creator and author of the Walking Dead comic book at Image Comics, tweeted the name of the upcoming Walking Dead TV spin off show: it is going to be called “Fear The Walking Dead”.
The spin off starts sometime before the zombie outbreak in California, but won’t remain a prequel and will venture onward until it runs parallel to the main show!
Jackman On Wolverine: One Last Time
Hugh Jackman made a lot of different statements on his role in the X-Men movies. A year ago he said that after Days of Futures Past he would be done, then a few weeks ago he alluded to wanting to play the character for as long as he can. Now he shared a photo on instagram which shows his right hand with the adamantium claws and the caption: “One last time”. Is this the final say on him playing Logan, or will he swing back again? Does this final time mean X-Men Apocalypse, or the third Wolverine movie with director James Mangold? As soon as we know we will update you, here on the Archonia blog!
