New Star Wars Trailer
At last weeks Star Wars celebration, which brought us a lot of facts for upcoming Star Wars movies (for example that the first anthology Star Wars movie “Rouge One” will take place between Episodes III and IV and will focus on the pilots who tried to get the deathstar plans which R2D2 brings to the rebells later) a new trailer for the upcoming Episode VII has been unveiled. In the case you have been living under a rock check it out here, or just watch it the 40th time like the rest of us.
Batman v Superman Teaser Trailer and a closer Look at the Batsuit
Just after the first full trailer for Star Wars came out, a leak forced WB to release their Batman v Superman teaser early… and what a great teaser it is (at least to me, while the internet had mixed reactions). Watch it here (my under a rock theory from before still applies), or re-watch it hourly, like I do (Yessss, there was a lot of trailer watching at my house in the last few days).Apart from this, DC released two IMAX posters for the movie (one Batman, one Superman themed), one of which you can see up above. A special IMAX trailer is going to be screened today in the US and Canada, which will only be seen at those screenings and is not expected to ever be released online. DeAndre Jordan, NBA superstar, has also been invited to see the Ben Affleck Batsuit and Batmobile up close, so if you want to see those in more detail, check this video out as well (BLACK AND GREY, PEOPLE!!!)

It has been trailer release madness lately, so Fox don’t want to feel left out and brought their new FF trailer to the party, which shows a lot more of the comedic and superpowered side of the film. You can check this and the new poste rout right here, right now. If this will make the doubters subscribe to some glimmer of hope again, or if this makes everything worse remains to be seen, but I think it looks pretty interesting.
Netflix’ Defenders Will Join Infinity War
Bleeding Cool cites sources that say the Defenders from the Netflix Marvel shows, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist, will feature into the second Avengers Infinity War movie in 2019.
Also: I bet that we will se at least Daredevil in next years Captain America: Civil War, since Marvel sees the positive feedback the show has gotten and still need to fill out the ranks a bit for the movie to be rightfully called Civil War.
Suicide Squad’s Joker Tease
Our future Joker Jared Leto is currently running around Toronto, shooting Suicide Squad. To give us another tease in a long line of teases, he showed us what he looks like with his green hair and red lipstick on snapchat. Next to that this picture has made the rounds online:
If this is truly our first look at the next Joker I can say he is, like Affleck’s Batman, very Frank Miller inspired and genuinely scary. The white suit is right out of DKR and he has more of a creepy Marilyn Manson vibe to him, than the punk rock vibe Ledger Joker had. As we have seen in the last weeks and months, director David Ayer and Leto probably won’t let us wait too long before they share an official picture with us. Stay tuned.
New Wonder Woman Director Found
After Michelle McLaren (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad) left the project citing creative differences as a reason (rumors say she wanted a huge budget action spectacle in the vein of Troy or Braveheart, while DC/WB want a more character focused film) the first female led superhero movie since over a decade has found a new director in “Monster”‘s Patty Jenkins. Jenkins had a short encounter with directing a superhero film before when she was developing “Thor: The Dark World”, but stepped down from the role midst production because of creative differences with Marvel Studios. What an irony. I think she is a good choice since Monster is a very well directed movie, but how well she will handle a more big budgeted film like this remains to be seen. Wonder Woman is supposed to start shooting in September and WB is currently looking at actors for the role of Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s love interest.
Constantine Still Not Cancelled
After rumors surfaced online that the DC Comics TV show Constantine had been cancelled last week, showrunner Daniel Cerone took to Twitter to debunk that rumor swiftly. He said that there is still no firm decision regarding the shows fate and that he is still expected to pitch his idea for season 2 to the NBC higher ups at the end of April. So, if you enjoyed Constantine, maybe buy it on iTunes (like I did), since Cerone said NBC will also look at those numbers internationally. So #saveconstantine
Justice League: Gods and Monsters animated movie trailer
A new animated DC movie has been announced. Justice League: Gods and Monsters is an Elseworlds story in which a darker Justice League is made up out of General Zod’s son as Superman, Dr. Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat) as a vampiric version of Batman and a female New God as Wonder Woman. This is the first film since Flashpoint where DC animated guru Bruce Timm is back in the behind the wheel and that also returns to his own style of animation (think Batman Animated Series, Justice League Unlimited). How this admittedly very different Justice League will fare in animated movie form will be seen when the movie comes out later this year. Until then check out the trailer, here on the Archonia Blog.
