Asa Butterfield for Spider-man
Movieweb reports that Marvel Studio’s main man Kevin Feige has been looking at younger actors for the new reboot Spidey (the third live action Peter Parker in just 14 years). Frontrunner is Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game), who has been Marvel’s top choice since day one.
The new Spider-man movies are supposed to tie into Marvel Studio’s Avengers franchise and the title of the first movie is rumored to be “Spider-man: The New Avenger”. While I do think that is a pretty stupid title overall, tying the Avenger’s name into it makes sense from a marketing standpoint. Even the general audience who doesn’t follow news like this at all will get that this has to do with those other movies.
Feige also revealed that the primary focus of the next Spidey is going to be humor, so prepare for a very jokey, high school Peter Parker in the MCU!
Suicide Squad revealed
As I said last week, David Ayer (my man, David Ayer, director of Fury and End of Watch, who gives me the goods every week and I love him for it) does not leave us geeks hanging for long. After revealing Jared Leto’s Joker look for the upcoming DC/WB movie, he revealed yesterday the look of the main Suicide Squad team. Let’s talk about the stand out characters: Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn looks sexy and wicked as hell, mainly referencing the New 52 red/blue goth look and the Arkhamverse videogames. She even has a heart tattooed where her name and her Puddin’ are referenced. Here is another picture from the set to more clearly see the colors:
Yes, she wears a jacket that says “Property of Joker” and a necklace that says “Puddin”. Awesome.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc is based on Brian Azzarello’s version of the character from the “Joker” graphic novel, which is a man with a skin condition who eats people and he looks awesome! Very excited they chose to not go the CGI route but do this character with make up and prosthetics. Boomerang looks like his comic counterpart, but viewed through a more realistic filter and Will Smith’s Deadshot… well… give it another looksee:
Pretty close to the comic version as well and badass like I hoped he would be. Very cool. Surprise addition to the team is Katana, who is a member of the Outsiders and the Justice League in the comics… I didn’t see that coming. Cara Delevigne’s Enchantress looks appropriately like a dirty vodoo swamp witch, while Members Rick Flag (Joel Kinnamann), Slipknot and Diablo are more down to earth (as down to earth as a guy who is covered in skull and bone tattoos from head to toe can be).
Overall, as a fan of the comic, I am very happy and excited about the looks. Next year is gonna be goooooooooooood!
More Suicide Squad/Batman v Superman Rumors
See that weird looking photo up there? That has been shot at the Suicide Squad set last week. Look at the black boots and the grey legs of the person hiding under that robe. Any clue? Well, let me give you a hint… look at the two small pointy things he seems to have on his head.
Batman seems to definitely feature into Suicide Squad, even in costume! Awesome!
Ben Affleck was spotted on “vacation” in Toronto, where the DC movie is currently shooting. At the airport he still had his normal hair, a few hours later he was seen in a black suit and tie, in close vicinity to the set, with grey Bruce Wayne streaks in his hair. So, this also means Bruce Wayne will come into play as well.
Another rumor, that will conclude this avalanche of DC movie news this week, is that they not only shot scenes featuring Batman/Bruce Wayne for Ayer’s Suicide Squad, but also Batman/Joker scenes to be edited into Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman. The scene is supposedly the death of second Robin Jason Todd at the hands of Jared Leto’s Joker.
So, yeah… we don’t have to worry DC is not going to keep Batman dark in this new universe. Veryexcitedveryexcitedveryexcited.
Dragon Ball Getting New Anime Series
Dragon Ball Super, the first Dragon Ball animated series for 18 years, is coming soon!
The show is supposed to be set in a period of peacetime several years after the defeat of Majin Buu.
Masako Nozawa, japanese voice of Goku, Gohan, and Goten had this to say:
“We’ve always used the word ‘chō’ (Super) with Dragon Ball in commercials, games and the like, but the fact that the series titled Dragon Ball Super is beginning is the best thing ever.”
Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama is going to plot the series himself, so Dragon Ball purists don’t need to worry. It will feature the strongest villains yet, which is saying a lot to what you can expect!
Osamo Nozaki producer of the series:“As I read the plot [of the series] I’ve already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear…”
There has been no word on when western audiences can expect the series to come over here, but seeing as how popular DB still is, I hope its sooner rather than later.
DB geeks? Are you excited about this? Comment below and keep an eye on the Archonia Blog for more developments on this story! KAME…HAME… BLOOOOOOOOOOG!
New Batman Arkham Knight Trailer shows off allies
The new Arkham Knight trailer shows how Batman’s allies (Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman and others) are helping the Dark Knight out on his quest to rid the city of Gotham from Scarecrows attack and the Arkham Knight himself.
As I have not seen the trailer, because I am already hyped beyond belief for this and don’t want any spoilers this close to release, I cannot tell you what happens exactly, but I bet its lots of cool martial arts action, character reveals and maybe the Batmobile pancaking copcars. Check it out!
Next to all of this a DLC pack for the game has been announced. It’s going to cost almost 40€’s and will feature skins for characters, different iconic Batmobiles from Batman 75 year history, a stand alone Batgirl prequel story that takes place in a new environment and new villain invasions on Gotham you can stop as Batman. This is only the first batch of content they have revealed and there is more to follow soon.
