Inhumans Movie Removed From Release Schedule
While it still hasn’t been out and out cancelled, the planned Inhumans movie by Marvel Studios has been removed from the official release schedule. Kevin feige, Marvel Studios’ overlord, talked about that in an interview for Civil War:
“Since we made our initial phase three announcement, we added Spider-Man, which was a big joyous coup for us. We added Ant-Man and the Wasp, which was a big fun continuation of that story for us. Walt Disney Company has announced an Indiana Jones film for right around that same time. So I think it will shuffle off the current date that it’s on right now. How far down it shuffles, I’m not sure yet.”
So, it seems that Inhumans fans shouldn’t lose all hope yet, but the property isn’t a top priority at the moment.
Harley and Deadshot Share A Moment/Joker Interview
A new official picture of the upcoming DC Comics film Suicide Squad has made it’s way online (courtesy of LA Times) and you can check it out above. It depicts Harley and co squad member Deadshot sharing a flirty look.
Joker actor Jared Leto also talked a bit about his approach to the character:
- “I don’t think I’m allowed to talk about that so much. But we walked in a completely new direction. I think we knew that we had to do that. It was important to do that. When the Joker has been done and done so well, it gives you a bit of an indication of where you shouldn’t go. There’s a bit of a map there. That’s the good part about it.” *
“It’s quite an honor. Joker has been written about in pop culture for 75 years. I’m just the latest in the long list of people who have redefined and reinvented this character. The actors, the voice actors, the television series, the writers, the artists and the fans. People have taken the Joker and reinvented and redefined for 75 years. It is really special to be asked to do that.”
Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Directed by David Ayer, the movie will arrive in theatres August 5th.
JK Simmons Talks Jim Gordon
“I don’t get started on that until June, and my part in the first one is very small. I’m excited to be playing that iconic character in that iconic series.”
“I’m going into a thing that hopefully will be 2, 3, 4, maybe more movies for me, and my part in the first one is really very small, but obviously, we know who the guy is. We know his whole backstory, based on the comic book. So, I’m just gonna finish doing my research on that. And probably not watch the other actors who have played the part, because that is kind of intimidating, honestly, and I don’t think I would find that to be productive. So, I’ll do my take.”
As a giant Batman fan and also a big supporter of JK in the role, I am happy to hear that there is more planned for that character and the bat part of the DC universe in the future!
Captain Marvel Director/Actress Rumors
With the Wonder Woman movie coming out next year, Marvel has already their own female led superhero movie in the pipeline: Captain Marvel Carol Danvers! During last week’s “Meet The Movie Press” there was some talk about the current rumored directors and actresses up for the film.
According to the Wraps Jeff Schneider: “There was a rumour about an actress being up for it; an already existing rumour, that’s not new. I’ve definitely heard there’s some truth to that rumour, and that there’s a director with the same first name who has also been eyed. I don’t think that [an announcement] is too far off. If they can make it to Comic Con, they will.”
The rumor he is probably referring to is either Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Rebecca Ferguson, and most recently Brie Larson, who all have been talked about for the film. And if we go with the most popular version of this, which is Emily Blunt, that would open up the door for female directors Emily Young (Veronika Decides to Die), Emily Ting (Already Tomorrow In Hong Kong) among others.
It is finally time for the female led superhero movies to shine, so I am quite happy about those news! Let’s see if Marvel has a firm announcement at SDCC!
Green Lantern Corps News
According to a source from Latino Review Green Lantern Corps is going to be a buddy cop adventure of sorts, focusing on Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart and Kyle Rayner, turning the film in an all out team movie, which is a great approach to this property! Apparently Warner Bros. are looking for a slightly older Hal Jordan around the age of Matt Damon, with Kyle and John being a bit younger than that.
I think this is actually a great idea for this film, as all great GL stories focus on the corps itself and not only on Hal Jordan. I just think the choice of Kyle Rayner is a bit boring, since he is relatively close to Hal in terms of characterisation. Guy Gardner would be a more interesting choice, since he could be the snarky Tony Stark of the group, but we’ll see. Still very pumped for this one, since the GL mythos really deserves a great movie franchise and I think to do a team movie is absolutely the right way to start it!
New X-Men Apocalypse
Here is the final trailer for X-Men Apocalypse! A lot of new footage and even a small cameo from a certain x-men, who wasn’t supposed to be in the film! First trailer for this one that really get’s me excited to be honest, even if I don’t love Mystique leading the X-men, but we will see.
