This week we take a look at the Justice League again, Pacific Rim 2 and more!
The Flash Justice League Fan Art
While this is not news, it is way too cool not to share. Photoshop god Bosslogic has done a new manip based on the Ezra Miller version of the Flash for the upcoming Justice League film by Zack Snyder! It is based on descirptions and the concept art that has been show already. Check it out above! This could be a cool glimpse in what the final Flash suit might look like next November!
Stephen Amell Talks Flashpoint/Arrow
SPOILERS for the Flash season 2 finale:
after what might be the best season of superheroics ever on network television, the Flash has been running towards Flashpoint! Flashpoint was a storyline in DC Comics in which Barry ran back in time to save his mother and thereby changed the whole DC universe! A week back CW's Barry Allen, Grant Gustin, even confirmed that this is what the show will be doing in it's third season by tweeting out the name of Flash Season 3's first episode: "Flashpoint".
While this will undoubtedly lead to another great season of the Flash, the almost more exciting question is how this will impact the other CW shows, as they share the same universe with Flash, which will now be changed. Last weekend on Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in New Jersey, Arrow star Stephen Amell confirmed that the Flashpoint will also bring changes to Arrow. What those changes will look like is anybodies guess, but it is sure exciting to think about it. Maybe this is how they are going to end up bringing Supergirl into the same universe? We will find out this Fall.
Joker in Justice League?!
Last week, according to JustJared, Jared Leto made a spontaneous 24hrs trip to London, where Justice League is currently shooting! According to other rumors from twitter he has been seen near the WB's studios. Also: as everybody who follows Leto on Snapchat, he is a very avid snap chatter who posts every day... but he did not post anything on that particular day.
All unconfirmed rumors, of course, but I feel there is a good possibility of him showing up in an Arkham scene with Lex (who has been put into Arkham in the BvS Ultimate Edition). Maybe he just met up with Ben Affleck to hash things out about the solo Batman film... we will know more when Justice League arrives in theatres around the globe in 2017.
If you are as pumped about Leto's Joker as I am, check out this short clip below which shows some behind the scenes footage of the villain from the Batman v Superman bonus features.
Pacific Rim 2 Release Date
Earlier this month it was revealed that John Boyega (Finn from The Force Awakens) will start in the sequel to Pacific Rim, as the son of Idris Elba's character, which will not be directed by Guillermo del Toro after all. Now Legendary Pictures has slated the film to release on February 23rd 2018 and actor Scott Eastwood, who will be in Suicide Squad this August, has entered negotiations to join the film as well. The Kaiju sequel will be directed by Daredevil season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight!
J.K. Simmons Talks Justice League
J.K. Simmons already shot some of his few scenes for the upcoming Justice League movie as you can read about in last week's Geekly. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly he spoke a bit about his role as Gordon, which he seems very excited about.
"[It's] been a fun experience, and knock wood, if it continues, then I’ll hopefully get to play Commissioner Gordon in a handful of movies,"
"People of my generation remember Commissioner Gordon as this jolly, ineffectual Santa Claus type, and I think over the years in the comics there’s definitely much more of a badass side to him. One of the things that’s interesting to me is investigating hopefully a little bit more of that badass …You’re living in a universe where it’s pretty tough to be a badass compared to somebody like Batman, but in the universe of non-superheroes I like the idea of Commissioner Gordon as a guy that can take care of himself, a guy that’s a real partner to Batman, not just a guy that turns on the bat signal and goes, ‘Help! Help, Batman!’"
Drive Director Wants Batgirl
Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Bronson, Neon Demon) is one of the most talented and visually stunning, but controversial directors working today! While he said that Drive was already his take on a superhero story, he worked on a Wonder Woman film with Christina Hendricks in the late 00s. He even had meetings with WB and DC about it, before it went into nothingness.
Now, on the press circuit for his newest film "The Neon Demon", he was asked about maybe wanting to jump back into the superhero business.
Speaking with Business Insider he said:
“God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun. I just don’t know when it’s going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity.”
When he was asked about which character would interest him he said straight away:
“I want to make Batgirl. Let’s get Warner working on it.”
I am not sure how serious he is about that, since he definitely works best in his own indy corner, but as a big fan I would not say no to his visual style on a Batgirl film. I doubt that will ever happen though, since his latest film features girl on girl cannibalism/necrophilia which might be a level of controversy WB/DC does not want in their franchise.
