What a great time us geeks are living in, with stuff we used to dream about being on TV every week, in the theatres as mega budget movies or even in videogames! Comic culture is in a golden age and every week a lot of news drop regarding the things we love. Let's check a few recent highlights!
Tom Holland Talks Spider-man Suit And More
Tom Holland, the MCU's Spider-man, talked to Variety about his new role and about the Spidey suit in particular on the premiere of the Lost City Of Z.
"The suit’s not the greatest thing, but sometimes when it’s uncomfortable, you just have to remind yourself of the long list of actors that would love to be in that suit and you just go, ‘do you know what, fck it. I’m the luckiest kid alive. I deserve to be here and I’m going to give it my best.'"*
About doing his own stunts:
"I did as many [of the stunts] as I could, but there are some things legally that I couldn’t do. [...] There were stunt doubles who were all very, very talented guys who really supported me throughout the process. Whenever there was a stunt that I didn’t necessarily feel comfortable about, they would step in and show my how to do it, and coach me through the process."
Sounds good. Excited to see how this third Spider-man in less than 14 years will work out.
Thor Ragnarok Director Interview
Director Taika Waititi took part at a reddit AMA recently and answered a few questions regarding his upcoming MCU movie Thor Ragnarok.
Talking a bit about his approach on making a Thor movie in a connected universe:
"I made an effort to ignore the fact there are other Thor films.
I honestly know NOTHING outside of what I’m doing. I’m trying to ignore the rest of the universe and just make my own awesome movie".
I actually think that is a good move by him, as the movies in the MCU that had the least amount of tie ins were often the best ones, in my opinion. I can't wait for Ragnarok, which is easily my most anticipated MCU film right now, as a huge Thor and Taika fan.
New Wonder Woman Trailer
A new international Wonder Woman trailer has dropped, and while it is mostly like the other one we have already seen, it has a few new scenes spliced into it that are very worth checking out! You can watch the trailer above!
"Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny."
Ewan McGregor Talks Obi-Wan Movies
Ewan McGregor's Obi Wan Kenobi is widely regarded as one of the few great things in the Star Wars prequels (at least in Episodes II and III), so of course fans have been speculating about him getting some sort of movie spin offs for a while. The actor talked a bit about that to Premiere and acknowledged those ideas and especially about exploring the time between Episode III and IV, to see how Obi Wan became Ben Kenobi.
"It would be fun to film that story now [that] I'm older. I’d be the right age. I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them!
I hope that they’re going to explore different genres under the Star Wars banner. And one of those could be an Obi-Wan Kenobi feature film. Or two! The Obi-Wan Kenobi Story Part 1 and Part 2!"
I think it would be a cool idea to give his character his due, but is there a lot of story between Episode III and IV for Obi Wan? Didn't he just live as a hermit to keep an eye on Luke after Episode III? Hardcore Star Wars fans can enlighten me in the comments!
New Star Wars Rogue One Trailer
Star Wars Rogue One is almost here! 60 days!
To make those days more doable, you can now watch the newest trailer of the film endlessly, which finally shows a lot of Vader! Check it out above!
Jeffrey Dean Morgan Up For Flashpoint Batman
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a cornerstone of modern geekdom on film and TV. He played the Comedian in Watchmen, Sam and Dean's dad in Supernatural, Negan in the Walking Dead and Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman! The last role means that IF DC should ever decide to do a fully formed Flashpoint movie (not the very weak version they did in the Flash TV show just a week ago. Seriously... what a let down.) he could be playing the Thomas Wayne version of Batman!
In a recent interview with Cinemablend he talked a bit about that!
“Maybe when [Zack Snyder] cast me that was kind of the goal. Hopefully DC can figure this all out, and in a few years I can come back and do a Flashpoint Batman! I would love it. That would be great.”
“I have not had any big discussions with him about [Flashpoint], but I remember when we were in Australia doing Watchmen press, and I was having dinner with Zack or whatever. And he was like, ‘My dream is to do the Frank Miller Batman.’ And he goes, ‘You would be an awesome Batman.’ The darker version.”
While Zack already did the Frank Miller Batman with Ben Affleck in BvS, with the Flashpoint Batman there would still be an even darker role like that open for Jeffrey Dean Morgan to play. I would really like to see a real live action Flashpoint that takes they story from the comic, so Morgan would be a perfect Thomas Wayne Batman in that. I am doubtful that will ever happen though.
Mera Dives Into Justice League
Amber Heard has been cast months ago as Mera, but now we finally have our first look at her in the role! While filming the last few days of Justice League, director Zack Snyder shared a picture of Aquaman's wife standing at the side of the sea in Iceland!
I, as a huge DC (and red head) fan, am over the moon with this picture! She looks just like Mera from the modern comics!
Suicide Squad How It Should Have Ended
While this is not news, it is still worth to check out! HISHE's own Suicide Squad parody video! While we here at Archonia loved Squad, we are aware of the problems the film had, so it is super funny to see those guys poke fun at them! Check it out above!
