The newest comic book movie news you need to care about: Thanos might kill people, Dark Phoenix is a drama and more!
Ty Sheridan Talks X-Men Dark Phoenix
The newest X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, will be with us this summer, but so far we haven't even seen a single trailer of the film.
Tye Sheridan, the actor who plays Scott Cyclops Summer, talked a little bit about the film to the Wrap, while doing rounds for his next movie Ready Player One and it sounds very interesting and reassuring.
"Jean goes crazy in the movie. Well, Cyclops doesn’t think she’s going crazy; Cyclops just thinks she’s gotta work some stuff out. It’s interesting, the drama in the movie. We treated this movie as much more of a drama versus a superhero film."
I really prefer the more serious and epic superhero films to the jokey and light ones, so this is music to my ears, as an X-Men fan!
Jesse Eisenberg talks Lex Luthor
When Jesse Eisenberg was casted as Lex Luthor, a lot of fans couldn't see him in the role, but to be honest, I was very excited from the start and ended up LOVING his version of Lex in Batman v Superman!
The super smart and talented actor was recently interviewed by Variety and talked about possibly returning to the role.
"I hope so. I mean, I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it’s the most enjoyable character I’ve had the opportunity to play. So I would love to do it again. But I don’t know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it."
When asked if any of his scenes had been cut form the much maligned Whedon cut of Justice League, he had this to say:
"No. I was in it after the credits. No, no. Actually, on the contrary, they added some stuff."
I really hope to see him interact with his fellow villains in the Legion of Doom soon. Can't wait to see him and Leto's Joker have scenes together!
Kevin Feige Talks Avengers Deaths
One of the complains against Marvels ultra successful series of movies (which is now actually the most profitable movie franchise of all time btw), next to them often having mediocre villains, is that the movies shy away from actually killing anybody important. With Infinity War coming closer and closer, people have been speculating if this will be the MCU film that will finally put some superheroes into the ground.
Kevin feige, Marvel Studios boss, recently talked about that with EW and had this to say:
"Yes. I mean, I could always list off the characters that we’ve killed in our movies that haven’t come back, but the big ones, which I know they’re looking at …? [Pause.] I would just say, yes. People need to be careful what they wish for."
That sounds like heads might actually roll when Thanos finally shows up in the next MCU film! Very excited what is going to happen!
Constantine vs Joker?!
At Wizard World in Cleveland, actor Matt Ryan was asked about his recurring role as DC's master magician, John Constantine.
He talked about his one season show, his appearances on the Arrowverse, his Justice League Dark animated film, where he met Batman, and his upcoming CW Seed animated series.
When asked, after meeting Arrow, the Legends and Batman himself, who else he would like to see John interact with, the actor had this to say:
I always wondered how Constantine would be with the Joker. Most of the time when I think of John in a situation with the other heroes, I can kind of picture what would happen. With the Joker, I don't know. I love the way that they wrote his interaction with Batman [in Justice League Dark]. There's not a lot there in terms of dialogue, it's just the one liners like calling him "Batsy" and whatnot. Those little things. In a way, they're kind of similar, John and Batman/Bruce. I really like that dynamic, and what was also great about Justice League Dark was being able to play some of those relationships with characters that we didn't get on the show - even though it's a voice thing. It's great to explore those dynamics. I've just got the Joker in my head now, though.
As Joker and John are in my top 5 characters of all time (places 3 and 4 respectively) I obviously would LOVE to see that!
Kristen Wiig In Wonder Woman 2
After months of speculation it was finally revealed that the sequel to Wonder Woman is going to feature Cheetah as a villain and actress Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Ghost Busters) is going to portray her.
A lot of people reacted very strongly against that reveal, but I think she is a great choice, as she is a very talented actress that can do more than just comedy. Plus tbf a lot of super talented actors started in comedy and branched out after, like Jim Carry, Steve Carrel and more!
For me this is actually the coolest news about WW2 yet
